EP 91 - The Truth About Personal Branding as a Photographer with Andrew Keher

Today, I sat down with Andrew Keher to talk all about personal branding, and what it really looks like to stand out in today’s wedding photography world. We unpacked the idea of the “forest of noise,” and how to evolve with a changing industry.

Meet Andrew:

Andrew Keher is a wedding photographer turned content creator and aspiring photography mentor, known for his deadpan humour and mildly unhinged approach to helping creatives show up online. In 2024, after nearly going out of business, he rebuilt from scratch, growing an audience of 50,000 creative followers on Instagram with honest, personality-led content which has led to him doing all sorts of cool things like talking on podcasts and writing 3rd person introductory bios for himself.

Finding Your Voice: Who Are You Really Talking To?

Andrew put it so well: “Who am I, who am I speaking to, why do I want to help you, and how can I help you?” Those four questions are gold. Whether you’re just starting or pivoting, your personal brand isn’t about a logo or a curated feed - it’s about clarity. Who are you, what do you love, and who do you serve? Those are some really important questions.

Escaping the Forest of Noise

Andrew used this phrase “forest of noise” to describe how crowded our industry can feel. And it’s so true. There’s a lot of content. A lot of photographers. A lot of voices. If you’ve ever felt a little invisible or unsure how to stand out, this part will speak to you. The goal isn’t to be louder - it’s to be clearer. And that starts with leaning into what makes you “you.”

Staying in the Game as the Industry Evolves

One thing I shared in our chat: “There’s already a whole new generation below me killing it in a totally different way.” And it’s true! The landscape’s always changing. But that doesn’t mean you’re behind - it just means we have to keep learning, stay curious, and evolve as artists and business owners.

What I Want to See More of in 2025

Andrew said it perfectly - he wants to know why you love the photos you post. Not just what camera you used or what preset. But what moment made it special. What feeling you were chasing. People connect to people. So don’t be afraid to show your heart in your captions, your emails, your stories, your everything.

Final Thoughts

This convo reminded me that showing up with honesty, vulnerability, and purpose is what makes your brand unforgettable. You don’t need to be for everyone - you just need to be fully you.

Thanks for hanging out with us on this episode. Can’t wait to hear what parts stood out to you. Let’s keep this convo going inside Summer School or on IG!
